Get well card for Fr. Steve

Author: St. Joseph's Indian School

At St. Joseph's Indian School, our privately-funded programs for Lakota (Sioux) children in need have evolved over 90 years of family partnership, experience and education. Because of generous friends who share tax-deductible donations, Native American youth receive a safe, stable home life; individual counseling and guidance; carefully planned curriculum based on Lakota culture and individual student needs and tools to help build confidence, boost self-esteem and improve cultural awareness. All of this helps children to live a bright, productive, possibility-filled future.

  3. Dear Father Steve,
I am saddened to know that you are being challenged by cancer….I understand how upsetting such a diagnosis can be—for you and for all who love you.
Know that you will be in my prayers…and I am certain that the love shown by the Indian children in their cards to you….will also be expressed in their prayers and the prayers of many others who love and care for you.
May God bless and comfort you as you travel an unknown path….through radiation, chemo, surgery…..to a prayed for, hoped for cure.
Please remember that God works through humanity….and if a time comes that you need comfort, allow someone the blessing of becoming a comfort for you. If you need to cry…..allow someone to hold you until your tears are spent….
We so often are able to share our joy, smiles, laughter—but find it difficult to share our pain, sorrow, and tears. Those who love us can cope with the full spectrum of human feelings.
Just know that my prayers will be joining many others, asking our Fathet to bless and keep you, Fr. Steve.

In the Love of the Lord,

  4. Hang in there, Fr. Steve. We are both cancer survivors so I know there is light at the end of the tunnel. Jeanne wasn’t given much of a chance 17 years ago (ovarian) and this year we’ll be celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. You will certainly be in our prayers that God will give you many more years to continue doing such wonderful work. Children are our only future.

  5. dear steve,
i am very sorry to hear about your cancer, i will be praying for you. i lost my mother to cancer in sept. she was sick and when they told her she had cancer she passed away 3 weeks later at home so this is a very hard subject for me, she was 81 years old and i miss her and my father very much.

  6. Dear Fr Steve,

Maybe you could add, quicker showers to your list, it may help.

I still have ays when it’s very difficult to tell myself I can’t do something like I did before. I will be having more surgery soon, so less will get done. When I read you were having a bit of a hard time doing less, I felt maybe you could use a few thoughts. I become frustrated because my house is not clean like it was before, I look at it in another way. I am blessed with a husband who will clean to the best of his ability.

I don’t sleep well so when I get a decent sleep, I give myself a pat on the back instead of thinking, sleep should always be like this!

I find a gift each day, something from nature, made by God, and put it into my memory, so when days are not looking nice, I think of those gifts, and before I know it, things look much better.

Hope all this makes sense, I’ve not had much sleep the past 3 days……typo’s can be a form of humor on it’s own.

May you have a super bright day!

    Much Peace,
    Robin
