On Friday, March 1, 2024, Richard Two Two Sr., Chief of Police for Kimball, S.D., received his South Dakota Basic Law Enforcement Certification, one of 42 students graduating the course run by the South Dakota State Attorney General’s Office.
The course meant 13 weeks of driving from his Kimball, S.D., home to the state capital in Pierre, S.D.
“It was a lot of back and forth,” noted Two Two, who had to be in the capital Monday through Friday for the course. Upping the degree of difficulty for the St. Joseph’s Indian School alum was the fact that he and his wife, a warm and family-focused couple, welcomed their third child a little over a month ago.
Two Two’s wife, Danielle, also a St. Joe’s alum, balanced home life and full-time studies at Mitchell Technical College to become a licensed practical nurse. The couple have two other children.
Asked how they manage, Two Two was quick to respond. “My favorite quote comes from Finding Nemo,” he said. “Just keep swimming.”
“On behalf of all of St. Joseph’s Indian School, we extend to Richard and his family our sincerest congratulations. We are honored to be part of their thiyóšpaye, and from our hearts we send our best wishes,” said President Mike Tyrell.

Congratulations to the couple, for the new baby, his completion of the course, and her continuing her education at a time when it cannot be easy. The staff of St. Joseph’s Indian School must be very proud of them both. We’re always so happy to learn how the alumni are doing after they leave the school.
IT IS ALWAYS WONDERFUL TO HEAR ABOUT ALUMS MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN THIER COMMUNITIES. THAT IS ONE OF THE MAIN THINGS THAT IS IMPORTANT AT ST. JOSEPH’S…BEING ABLE TO PRODUCE STUDENTS WHO CAN USE THIER FULL POTENTIAL TO MAKE A BETTER WORLD FOR US ALL. CONGRATULATIONS CHIEF TWO TWO !
