St. Joseph’s Wins Communicator Award, Receives National Recognition

St. Joseph’s Indian School celebrates special recognition of its public service announcement (PSA), “More Than a School.”

The PSA is the winner of a Communicator Award of Excellence in the category Integrated Campaign Winner – Campaign-Non-Profit. It was one of only thirteen winners in this category. Entries are evaluated based on a standard of excellence in marketing and communications. Judging is based purely on the quality of craft, so sometimes, a category may have multiple winners or none at all. Entries are scored on a 100-point scale. Excellence winners receive a score of 90 or above.

Executive Director of Development Kory Christianson remarked, “We are honored to accept this award on behalf of the Lakota students who attend our ‘more than a school,’ which offers cultural heritage, education, and healthcare in an environment of caring support. We are most grateful for the families who entrust their children to our care and the faithful donors who fund this important work. It is humbling to receive national recognition.”

St. Joseph’s Indian School worked with 1stdegree Marketing & Public Relations to script and create the PSA. The PSA highlights the school’s students, staff and programs, telling the story of St. Joseph’s Indian School to a national audience.

The Communicator Awards is dedicated to recognizing excellence, effectiveness and innovation across all areas of communication. Founded nearly three decades ago, the program receives almost 5,000 entries making it globally one of the most prominent award shows of its kind. The Award of Excellence, the highest honor, is given to entrants whose ability to communicate positions them as the best in the field.

At St. Joseph's Indian School, our privately-funded programs for Lakota (Sioux) children in need have evolved over 90 years of family partnership, experience and education. Because of generous friends who share tax-deductible donations, Native American youth receive a safe, stable home life; individual counseling and guidance; carefully planned curriculum based on Lakota culture and individual student needs and tools to help build confidence, boost self-esteem and improve cultural awareness. All of this helps children to live a bright, productive, possibility-filled future.
