Fr. Steve entered surgery at 3:15 this afternoon. Although an unexpected and lengthy wait for the operating room caused Fr. Steve and his family a bit of restlessness, the family is now waiting patiently for an update from the surgical team.

At this point, it is not known how long surgery will take; there may be no news for up to eight hours.

Be assured we’ll share news of Fr. Steve’s progress as quickly as we’re able. In the meantime, thank you for keeping Fr. Steve, his medical team, his family and all at St. Joseph’s in your prayers.

  2. Fr. Steve,

I (Nancy) know what you mean when you say that you can’t handle the recovery and having to take it slow and stay off your feet while recouperating.

I find it difficult to stay off my feet and keeping them elevated. It was my first hospitalization and surgery too. I was petrified.

Now I have to go to the wound center once a week to have my bandages changed and my legs scraped. Not fun and very painful. I feel your pain and apprehension. It won’t be easy for you at first, but, with your staff and children there to help you and with you in God’s healing hands you will get used to it eventually, hopefully, you won’t have as long of a wait to finish recovering and getting back on your feet as I do.

I pray as does my husband for your quick recovery and that the cancer has been taken out completely and doesn’t return.

May your team of caregivers give you comfort while in the hospital and while recouperating.

May your surgeons work quickly and get every ounce of cancer out of you.

May you have very little to no pain during your recovery. God watches over you always and aids you in your recovery.

    God Bless you Fr. Steve,

    Nancy & Kenny Raymmond
