GreatNonprofits names St. Joseph’s “Top-Rated Charity” once again

St. Joseph’s Indian School has been named a 2018 Top-Rated Nonprofit by GreatNonprofits.

Thanks to reviews from our supporters, we have been named a “2018 Top-Rated Nonprofit” again! The designation comes from GreatNonprofits, the leading provider of user reviews of charities and nonprofits.

St. Joseph’s Indian School provides care, a quality education and housing for 200 Lakota boys and girls from South Dakota Indian Reservations in Chamberlain, S.D.

“What a great honor to be named a 2018 Top-Rated Nonprofit,” said St. Joseph’s Indian School President Mike Tyrell. “It is our supporters that help provide our students with opportunities for success in the homes and classrooms, breaking down barriers that enable them the opportunity for a bright and heathy future.”

The Top-Rated Nonprofit Award is based on the rating and number of reviews that St. Joseph’s Indian School received from volunteers, donors and aid recipients.

“I am very confident that my support is used to improve the lives of the children and to provide them the opportunity to succeed, grow and become all that they can be. The smiles on the faces and the stories the children share let me know that they are doing well,” wrote one reviewer.

“The dedicated people at St. Joseph’s Indian School are wonderful and the school does such a great job for the Lakota girls and boys. We are so pleased to be a supporter of this terrific charity,” read another review.

GreatNonprofits said St. Joseph’s Indian School is a great example of a nonprofit organization making a real difference in their community.

“Their award is well-deserved recognition not only of their work, but the tremendous support they receive, as shown by the many outstanding reviews they have received from people who have direct experience working with St. Joseph’s Indian School,” said Perla Ni, CEO of GreatNonprofits.

St. Joseph’s was named a Top-Rated Charity in 2017 and has repeated this honor for 2018.

GreatNonprofits is the leading website where people share stories about their personal experiences on more than 1.2 million charities and nonprofit organizations. The GreatNonprofits Top-Rated Awards are the only awards for nonprofits determined by those who have direct experience with the charities – such as donors, volunteers and recipients of aid.

At St. Joseph's Indian School, our privately-funded programs for Lakota (Sioux) children in need have evolved over 90 years of family partnership, experience and education. Because of generous friends who share tax-deductible donations, Native American youth receive a safe, stable home life; individual counseling and guidance; carefully planned curriculum based on Lakota culture and individual student needs and tools to help build confidence, boost self-esteem and improve cultural awareness. All of this helps children to live a bright, productive, possibility-filled future.
